K2 Base Camp Concordia Trek

Open Trekking Groups Dates 2016

Dear all,

A small message to let you know that we have set the dates for our open trekking groups of 2016.

You can join our standard 21 day Concordia / K2 base camp trek on the following dates:

15 June

20 July

5 August

10 September

2 October

The Concordia / K2 base camp trek is one of the most beautiful treks in the world which is on the bucket list of many trekking enthusiasts. After flying from Islamabad to Skardu – Baltistan, the adventure will really start by driving in a 4×4 to the town of Askole from where we will enter the Central Karakoram National Park. You will be trekking for a total of 13 days including some rest days with our main destination being Concordia (4650m) from where you will be having an amazing and once in a lifetime 360 degree view of some of the highest and most impressive mountains in the world including 4 eight-thousanders with of course the magnificent K2! For those of you who are fit enough a day trip to K2 base camp (5135m) can be made or you can just relax and enjoy the scenery before hiking back over the Baltoro glacier to Askole.

Anyone with a good fitness level and high altitude trekking experience can join this trip, the groups will be a nice mix of international trekkers from various backgrounds and will be headed by an experienced English speaking mountain guide of Adventure Pakistan. We will begin and end in Islamabad (total 21 days) but you can also choose to start / end in Skardu (total 16 days).

If you like to add some additional sightseeing or do a small trek as “warming-up” then this is of course possible, for example by visiting Fairy Meadows – please contact us for the options.

The Snow Lake trek will be organized based on interest – we therefore would like to ask you to send us a short message if you are considering to do this trek so that we can get a group together on the most suitable date(s).

With most trekkers choosing the K2 trek those of you who like a more isolated and less populated trek, the amazing Snow Lake trek is the perfect choice! This trek will also start from Askole but will turn left to the Biafo glacier instead of going to the Baltoro glacier for the K2 trekkers. We follow the Biafo glacier until reaching the Snow Lake (Lukpe Lawo) at 4877m – in 1892 Martin Conway, the first foreigner to have ever visited the lake, has described the Snow Lake area as: “beyond all comparison the finest view of mountains it has ever been my lot to behold, nor do I believe the world can hold a finer.” (quote from: David Noland. “Glacier Trekking to Pakistan’s Legendary Snow Lake”) After crossing the Hispar La (5151m) we will follow the Hispar glacier to Hispar village where our trekking has come to an end after 13 days of hiking. We will have a sightseeing day in Karimabad / the Hunza valley before driving to Gilgit for our flight to Islamabad – total 22 days. Extensions in Hunza are available – please don’t hesitate to ask.

This trek is also suitable for anyone with a good fitness level and high altitude trekking experience, the groups will be a nice mix of international trekkers from various backgrounds and will be headed by an experienced English speaking mountain guide of Adventure Pakistan.

We look forward to welcoming you in one of our open trekking groups this summer!

Best wishes,

The Adventure Pakistan Team
